Residents of a Pergola Avenue home called police after the unidentified boy, 15, came in and refused to leave around 11:20 a.m., Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief James J. Craparotta of the Jamesburg Police Department said.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Response Team (SORT) was called to the scene after the boy failed to comply with police officers' orders to get out, Craparotta and Kuberiet said.

SORT utilized "numerous means of de-escalation" over the course of three hours,  including the use of a crisis negotiator, authorities said.

The boy ultimately surrendered with the negotiator's help around 4:40 p.m., and was taken into custody, officials said.

He remains in the custody of juvenile authorities and no injuries were reported.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
